Diagnosis and treatment are available through specialist hospitals with hematology services, including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and other major referral hospitals. Patients should seek medical attention as early as possible, as early diagnosis and treatment significantly improves outcomes.

The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) may cover some consultations, tests, and general healthcare services, but many specialized treatments, medications, and procedures for leukemia are not fully covered. If you are unable to afford treatment, we encourage you to speak with your healthcare team about available support options and financial assistance programmes that may be available through hospitals or partner organizations.

The Centre for Hematology & Clinical Genetics is a flagship project of the Leukaemia Project Foundation in partnership with Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. It is being established as Ghana's first dedicated center for the diagnosis, treatment, research, and long-term management of leukemia and other blood disorders, while also serving as a center for clinical genetics, education, and specialist training.

The Centre is currently under development. Construction and commissioning are being carried out in phases and are dependent on fundraising and strategic partnerships. An official opening date will be announced once the project reaches completion.

The Centre will provide specialized diagnostic laboratories, outpatient and inpatient care, bone marrow transplant services, clinical genetics services, research facilities, and specialist training for healthcare professionals. Details regarding treatment costs, subsidies, and financial assistance programmes will be communicated closer to the Centre's opening, with the aim of making specialist care as accessible and affordable as possible.

Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital is Ghana's largest teaching and national referral hospital, providing specialist healthcare to patients from across the country and the West African sub-region. Locating the Centre at Korle-Bu allows it to integrate with existing specialist services while expanding Ghana's capacity to diagnose and treat blood disorders.
